You’ll learn how to confidently install your nuc, what to look for during those first inspections, and how to care for your new colony during the critical first month.

Whether you’re brand new to beekeeping or just want to make sure you’re doing things right, this guide will help you avoid common beginner mistakes and build a healthy, thriving hive from day one.

This course is COMPLETELY FREE to 2026 nuc customers!

A freshly mated Pol-Line 2.2–selected VSH queen evaluated using the BEST Protocol

Brood in all stages on 2–3 frames plus frames with pollen and honey

A balanced population of young bees ready to take off

These are not “shake and ship” nucs — they’re true, working colonies built right out of our own yards. Perfect for new beekeepers wanting a dependable start or seasoned keepers wanting proven genetics.

Queen Details

Our spring 5-frame nucs are built around queens selected from Pol-Line 2.2 VSH stock using the USDA BEST Protocol — a standardized method that identifies queens with exceptional hygienic behavior, strong mite resistance, and reliable brood patterns. These queens come from proven genetics developed for real-world performance — the same way we run bees here in Southeast Texas.

NUC FAQ

What do I need on pickup day?

You MUST have proper PPE to pick up your nuc. NO EXCEPTIONS. This includes a bee suit (jackets are acceptable but you must have pants), bee gloves, and CLOSED TOE shoes.

We recommend you bring a good way to secure your nuc(s) for the drive home. (Bungees are best, as the box does have some flex in it)

What does pickup day look like?

We will inspect your nuc with you on pickup day. That way, you see your nuc has a laying queen with all stages of brood.

Where is pickup?

All pickups will be from our shop in Kountze, TX.

What condition is the equipment?

These nucs are made with used equipment. They are made from our established bee colonies with drawn frames. Not every frame will be perfect. The Pro-Nuc box may show signs of use but will be fully functional.

Do you sell other bee equipment?

We are currently working on sorting through our equipment to provide some used options to save money (retail bee gear is expensive!) Those options will be posted for sale on our website and will be pickup only.

How do I get access to the video course?

If you purchased a nuc, you will be emailed access to the course within 24 hours

If you'd like to purchase the course separately, it will be available to purchase here on our website.

What if I have problems with my nuc?

BEES ARE HARD TO KEEP ALIVE. National colony losses exceed 40% annually. Moore Honey Farm is not responsible for the death of your nucleus colony due to mishandling or mismanagement.

If you have issues within 15 days with the health of your queens, we will work to help you resolve the issue. Bees must be monitored and cared for responsibly and routinely. Nuc customers are always welcome to reach out with questions.
